
Ethan Burke is a versatile clarinetist and woodwind doubler based in Tallahassee, FL. He has been playing clarinet for 11 years, and also has many years of experience playing saxophone, oboe, and flute. In high school, he earned principal clarinet positions in prestigious ensembles, including the Florida Symphony Youth Orchestra, the 2019 NAfME All-National Concert Band, and the 2020 Music for All Honor Orchestra of America.
Ethan graduated from Florida State University with a bachelor’s degree in music performance and computer science, studying clarinet under Deborah Bish and Jonathan Holden. At FSU, he was deeply involved in the music community, performing in wind bands, jazz ensembles, orchestras, chamber groups, the Marching Chiefs, world music ensembles, and various community ensembles.
Known for his versatility and curiosity, Ethan thrives on exploring diverse musical styles while maintaining a commitment to excellence. His playing has been praised by esteemed musicians such as Nikolay Blagov, Cecilia Kang, YaoGuang Zhai, and Doreen Ketchens.
Currently, Ethan serves as the director of FSU’s Brazilian music ensemble, Grupo Jaraguá, and remains an active performer throughout Tallahassee and beyond.
